More and more celebrities are choosing plant-based diets to support their physical health and beauty. They have access to the best doctors and personal trainers, with health gurus on speed dial. And they are still going “Veg,” because they find they look their best and perform at peak levels with a meat-free diet!
Perhaps the most well-known plant-based advocate in recent years is none other than Queen Bey, who famously went vegan for 22 days. She not only widely-publicized the effects of her experience (including tighter, younger-looking skin, natural and easy weight-loss and feeling AMAZING) but Beyoncé was so passionate about it, she even launched a meal delivery service that makes trying the vegan lifestyle easy, tasty and cost effective.
Actresses like Rooney Mara, Anne Hathaway and Alicia Silverstone have all named vegetarian or vegan diets as the secret to their gorgeous figures. It’s not just the girls either… some of Hollywood’s hottest (and fittest!) leading men are vegetarian or vegan including Casey Affleck, Christian Bale, Brad Pitt and Jared Leto, proving it’s possible to choose tofu and hang on to those muscles!
And while these celebs love the healthy-weight they’re able to maintain through eating primarily or exclusively plant-based, many also strongly support the humanitarian side of the equation. They champion the benefits to animals and the environment, and opt for cruelty-free products and faux-fur over the real thing.
It’s not just the entertainment industry that has chosen forks over knives either.
Throughout the NFL there are players trying vegan diets and experiencing better performance on the field and quicker recovery time between games, including Ricky Williams, Tony Gonzalez and Arian Foster – the Texas running back who led the NFL in number of carries and rushing touchdowns after maintaining a vegan diet for 9 months.
Since cutting out meat, Mike Tyson has dropped 100 pounds and reports feeling powerful and “explosively energetic.” Meanwhile, Venus Williams went full-on raw vegan to heal from a rare auto-immune disorder. She and her powerhouse sister Serena now both embrace to a primarily plant-based diet. And there are many other top athletes in baseball, tennis, track & field and other competitive sports that subscribe to the herbivore’s way of life.
While many celebs have stuck with a total vegan lifestyle, others skip meat but include eggs, dairy and even fish in their diets. Yet others maintain a primarily plant-based diet, but include some organic/humane meat here and there.
For celebrities, performers and athletes, just like for everyday people, the key is experimenting and finding out what works for each of us individually.
